Mia Thompson, originally from Edwardsville, Illinois, is a recent graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, holding her Bachelor of Music degree in Clarinet Performance. She has studied with internationally renowned clarinetists from the Israel Philharmonic, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and more. Her teachers have included Eli Eban, Diana Haskell, James Hinson, and Mary Sage. Mia is pursuing her Master of Music in Clarinet Performance at California State University - Fullerton with the Los Angeles Philharmonic's Burt Hara.

An experienced clarinet teacher, Mia has worked with students of all levels and ages and has studied pedagogy under the brilliant clarinet pedagogue Howard Klug at Indiana University. She has taught as the clarinet instructor for the Edwardsville Summer Band Camp in Edwardsville, Illinois and been on the judging panel for clarinet auditions for the St. Louis All-Suburban Honor Band in Missouri. Mia has also held administrative internships with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and top international classical music management agency Primo Artists, where she now serves world-class artists as Social Media Assistant.

Mia believes in the importance and necessity of diversifying her skillset on and off the clarinet in order to thrive as a musician today. She was a founding member of the Digital Clarinet Academy's "THRIVE" program aimed at doing just this. Through THRIVE, Mia has worked with a mind-body educator, opera singers, fitness coaches, performance psychologists, and more all to provide new perspectives and ideas in how to approach and make music.
